AAU basketball practices are held every Friday from 16:00 - 18:00 at Tyršuv dum.
Address: Újezd 450, 118 01 Praha 1 - Malá Strana
The Student Council is more organized and active than ever. We have different Committees working on related issues. The Sports Committee is in the process of putting together an AAU Basketball Team and a Soccer Team. The students who signed up on the lists posted on our Notice Board from the beginning of this semester have been contacted by our committee members and practices should be starting in the next couple of weeks. The Social Committee organized a successful School Party on Tuesday March 2nd in Club Prdel and on Wednesday, March 3rd, we had 20 students for Movie Nights watching the thrilling Mexican movie "Sin Nombre".
Other then that, we have unanimously voted in Sarah Tucker as our 12th member, replacing Huzan Balay. The 13th member, an exchange student, will be voted for next meeting. Furthermore, we are meeting with other English speaking Universities in Prague on a regular basis to enhance cooperation. This includes for instance Prague College and University of New York in Prague. For instance, did Prague College recently offer to help us design posters for our events, as they have a Graphic Design program in their school? Another hot issue discussed in our last meeting Tuesday, March 2nd, was the situation with the new Online Reader system. We have received many complaints from the students concerning lack of instructions on how to use Fronter, reading material missing, technical problems and general displeasure and confusion about the radical switch from the old physical readers to a 100 % computer based learning system. This issue will of course be addressed by our University Committee.
Thanks to the joint effort of the Student Council together with AAU representatives, our university will provide ISIC and ITIC cards for all students and faculty, effective Fall 2010! All students and teachers are eligible and the cards will be provided free or charge for each year, including the automatic renewal every consecutive year of study. The good news is that you will be able to use this card not only for world-wide discounts but also as a print card at AAU, the library entrance, as well as your AAU student ID… ALL IN ONE.
