Anglo-American University offers unique system of merit based scholarships which enables the best students to study for free. Please see below the merit based scholarship section for more information or contact Student Services Center.

AUDITING STUDENTS

Auditing students are charged the reduced price equal 50% of the base tuition. No other discounts or stipends apply for auditing students.

*Out of state fee is paid by students without pemanent residence in the Czech Republic. The fee does not apply to MBA students.

**Fee is charged for registration after Advising/Registration Period.

***The fee is charged for Art courses. It covers tickets to performances, exhibitions, etc.

****Students that are transferring classes to AAU from other universities will be charged 200 CZK per credit transfer fee. It is 200CZK for 1 ECTS Credit or 400CZK for 1 American Credit since 2 ECTS = 1 American. Transfer fees are payable for a minimum of 6 ECTS or 3 American Credits or 1 Class.

Conditions: 

  1. Merit-based Scholarships are awarded to students who have already completed at least 48 ECTS credits or 24 US credits at AAU, for BA (Hons) in Comparative Business Law the requirement is 50 ECTS or 100 UK credits.
  2. Merit-based Scholarship GPA is calculated cumulatively since the beginning of the studies of the program at AAU.
  3. Merit-based Scholarship is awarded to students who have taken at least 4 courses the previous semester at AAU. The dean may ease that condition to 3 courses.
  4. Students who register for the next semester prior to the end of the current semester are assigned the tuition that does not yet reflect the Merit-based Scholarship. This is calculated after the grades are in. Eligible students that have already paid the tuition will be given either the financial refund or tuition credit for future studies depending on their choice.
  5. Merit Based Scholarschips do not apply to MBA program.

3.2 Alumni Scholarship

These scholarships are offered to graduates of any programs of Anglo-American University, Anglo-American College, The New Anglo-American College in Prague and apply to the first year of study only.

3.3 Need - based Scholarship

Any AAU student who turns out to experience extraordinary economic hardship may apply for a Need-based Scholarship to cover part of his/her tuition. A special committee set up by a Provost will make the decision on individual basis.

3.4 Roma Scholarship

Anglo-American University awards a yearly full scholarship to two Roma applicants that fulfill the admissions requirements. To keep the scholarship students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher or (for the BA Law program) 49,5+ in the U.K. grading system. These scholarships must be applied for during the admissions process.

3.5 Refugee Scholarship

Anglo-American University awards a yearly full scholarship to one applicant with refugee status in the Czech Republic that fulfills the admissions requirements. To keep the scholarship student must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher or (for the BA Law program) 49,5+ in the U.K. grading system. This scholarship must be applied for during the admissions process.

3.6 Students with Physical Disabilities Scholarship

Anglo-American University is happy to offer a yearly full scholarship to one student with disabilities. To keep the scholarship student must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher or (for the BA Law program) 49,5+ in the U.K. grading system. This scholarship must be applied for during the admissions process. Please be aware that the Anglo-American University campus is not wheelchair accessible.

3.7 Special Scholarships

Anglo-American University offers other special scholarships which are – following their approval at the President’s Collegium - announced at the ad hoc basis.

3.8 MBA Alumni Scholarships

MBA students are not eligible for any of the stipends above. Anglo-American University, however, offers annually 4 MBA stipends in the amount of 100 000 CZK to its alumni. Selection is based on the GPA solely. The scholarship must be applied for during the admissions process.

3.9. Journalism Scholarships

The Alan Levy Journalism Scholarship funds one student per year to study in our Journalism & Communications BA Program. This scholarship will cover the tuition of four of the program’s core classes, and specifically: Reporting I, Reporting II, Intro to Mass Communications, Selected Topics in Journalism Ethics. As Alan Levy so closely connected his life and career as a journalist to the modern history of Prague and the Czech Republic, this scholarship is available only to citizens of the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

4. Early Payment Discounts

Discounts may be combined with the scholarships.

4.1   Continuing Students

Fall
Students who register and pay in full for Fall by June 30th (same calendar year) will get a special 6% discount for 2010 and 10% discount from 2011.

Winter
Students who register and pay in full for Winter by December 15th (previous calendar year) will get a special 6% discount.

Spring
Students who register and pay in full for Spring by December 31st (previous calendar year) will get a special 6% discount.

Summer
Students who register and pay in full for Summer by May 7th (same calendar year) will get a special 6% discount.

4.2. New Students

Fall
Students who register and pay in full for Fall by July 30th (same calendar year) will get a special 10% discount.

Spring
Students who register and pay in full for Spring by January 31st (same calendar year) will get a special 6% discount.

5. General Provisions

Students with no amounts past due are considered to be in good financial standing.

Only students in good academic and financial standing are eligible for any discounts or stipends.

Only students in good financial standing are allowed to register.

Discounts and stipends apply to tuition only and do not apply to the fees.

Continuing students must pay at least 10% of the tuition due at the time of registration. New students must pay at least 40% of the tuition due at the time of registration. In addition, all aplicable fees must be paid at the time of registration.

In order to maintain good financial standing the remainder must be paid within deadlines set up in the academic calendar or installments scheme for the
remainder must be approved by the CFO and its deadlines must be always met. Installments carry 2.5% surcharge that is included in the first payment.

Any past due amount carries a 2% surcharge within first week after the deadline and 15% afterwards.

Auditing students pay full amount at the point of registration.

Students dropping some of their courses during the add/drop period without replacing them with other courses will be given a refund less 10% to cover
administrative costs. There is no refund after the add/drop period.
