Designed to train students as broadcast media and news literacy specialists, this bachelor’s program emphasizes fundamental investigative reporting and publicity skills in the context of domestic and foreign policy, economics and culture. Students exercise and develop written and verbal communication in intercultural settings that include work in video editing and production, digital photography and web content development.
This B.A. in Journalism and Communications program uniquely combines an education in political, economic and social points of inquiry to establish for students critical and analytical skills needed to work in a dynamic media environment that is globalizing and converging technology, languages and culture.
Studies culminate with the presentation and defense of an original thesis, and the successful completion of an oral exam conducted by a state examination panel. At this stage of the program, would be graduates are equipped with a ready knowledge of contemporary media issues, theory and practice.
Graduates are qualified and prepared for positions in English-language traditional press and electronic media, for radio and television programming and in the broader fields of marketing and public relations. Graduates also possess an education contemporary political and social history, and as such ready for journalism and/or communications work in government interests such as embassies, and likewise in non-government organizations.
