Václav Havel has a place in history as the leader of the resistance against the totalitarian regime in Czechoslovakia; his name is for ever linked with the Velvet Revolution of 1989 and the restoration of democracy in our country.
Without this return to democracy and without the opening up of the world to the people of this country, which we owe to Václav Havel more than anyone else, the Anglo-American University would not exist in Prague.
The mission of the Anglo-American University is to rely on those values which are inseparably linked with Václav Havel – democracy, humanity, courage, honour and civic responsibility. The Anglo-American University will always hold Václav Havel in the highest esteem and will educate its students in this spirit.
